Two former female Sri Lanka Navy officers have been remanded in connection with an investigation into the alleged abduction, detention and disappearance of two women in Trincomalee in 2008.
COLOMBO — Law enforcement authorities have arrested two former female naval officers in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged torture and murder of two women.
According to police sources, the suspects were taken into custody following preliminary findings allegedly linking them to the crimes.
Authorities emphasised that the investigation remains ongoing and that the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Investigators have withheld specific details regarding the identities of the victims and suspects in order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and judicial proceedings.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its inquiries to determine the full sequence of events and establish whether any additional individuals were involved.
