Sri Lanka’s Police Chief has affirmed that recent underworld activities will not resurface or increase despite current struggles. This declaration follows the launch of a significant police operation aimed at cracking down on underworld elements and related crimes. The operation, involving thousands of officers, focuses on the Western and Southern provinces where a rise in underworld activities has been noted. Special Task Force units and other specialized police divisions are actively involved, with efforts including roadblocks, arrests, and advanced measures like facial recognition technology at airports to prevent criminals from fleeing the country.
