Hambantota, Sri Lanka – A video circulating on social media shows a man causing significant destruction inside the Hambantota Divisional Secretariat office, attacking office equipment and disrupting operations.
The incident reportedly occurred after the man became frustrated and angry when the officials failed to complete the task he had visited for. Enraged by the delay, he resorted to vandalizing the institution’s property in protest.
Government officials present at the time were shocked and frightened, with some shouting for help and attempting to restrain him as the situation escalated. The dispute arose when the man visited the Divisional Secretariat office to obtain a copy of his father’s birth certificate and encountered difficulties in the process.
Following the altercation, police arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect, and later produced him before the court. He has since been remanded in custody, with further legal action pending.
