Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya did not mince her words when she took aim at the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), alleging that their May Day rally last year was a farce fueled by handouts.
Speaking at a public gathering in Homagama, the Prime Minister claimed the SJB enticed crowds with “a packet of rice, a bottle of arrack, and cash.”
“Their May Day wasn’t a rally — it was a tragedy,” she said. “Before trying to run the country, they should at least learn how to run a proper meeting.”
Her remarks have stirred controversy, igniting fresh political tensions as parties gear up for upcoming elections.
