
The United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) have agreed to form administrations together in local government institutions where the opposition secures a majority in the upcoming 2025 local government elections.
This decision was made during a special discussion held today (19th), regarding establishing power in local government bodies where the majority has been granted to the opposition by the people in the 2025 elections.
Representatives from both the UNP and SJB participated in the discussion, and a joint statement issued by SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara and UNP General Secretary, Attorney-at-Law Thalatha Atukorale, confirmed the agreement.
