(COLOMBO) – A 37-year-old Sri Lanka man was hacked to death by his wife after he attempted to take nude photographs of his teenage daughter to be shared on social media, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday at their family home in Wellawa in the Kurunegala District situated some 102 kilometres north of the commercial capital Colombo, police said.
They said Suranga Pradeep Kumara (37) a father of a 14-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son was pronounced dead on arrival at a regional Government hospital.
The wife, an apparel hand was subsequently arrested along with the suspected murder weapon and was to be produced before a local Magistrate, police said.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim had opened a YouTube channel and intended to use his daughter’s photos alongside other nude and semi-nude images of young women.
The wife is alleged to have blinded the man with chilli powder before going on to hack him to death with a sharp instrument, police added.
Police quoted the woman as saying that her husband had been pestering her for permission to photograph their daughter in the nude that was intended for use on his private YouTube channel which she had vehemently refused.
