Polonnaruwa – May 30, 2025 — Deputy Minister T. B. Sarath claimed that the current government has accomplished more in the past six months than what successive administrations failed to do in the last 76 years.
Speaking at a public meeting in Polonnaruwa, the Deputy Minister responded to critics who had doubted the effectiveness of the National People’s Power (NPP)-led government, stating, “People said this government wouldn’t work but we have done what others couldn’t do for decades.”
He further stated that many former leaders are now being held accountable for corruption. “They are being imprisoned for misusing public funds for their personal luxuries, while ignoring the needs of the people,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s priorities, Sarath emphasized that the new administration is working to reverse that culture of impunity and is now ensuring that resources from the treasury are properly allocated to provide meaningful relief to citizens.
The Deputy Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing anti-corruption investigations and public sector reforms, part of the government’s broader efforts to restore trust and deliver long-overdue public service improvements.
