The Presidential Secretariat has reportedly launched an investigation into a photoshopped image that allegedly depicts President Anura Kumara Dissanayake as significantly shorter than the German President, during his ongoing state visit to Germany.
The photograph in question, which circulated on local and international platforms, has sparked controversy for what appears to be deliberate editing intended to alter the President’s stature.
According to veteran journalist Uvindu Kurukulasuriya, a local journalist has been summoned by the Presidential Secretariat for questioning regarding the origin and manipulation of the image.
While no official statement has been issued yet by the President’s Media Division, the inquiry suggests the administration is taking the matter seriously, viewing the incident as a potential attempt to undermine the dignity of the head of state during an official diplomatic engagement.
Further updates are expected following the Secretariat’s internal review.
