
The Sri Lankan government has pledged its full support for the successful hosting of the upcoming Global Bora Community’s Spiritual Assembly and Convention, scheduled to be held in Colombo from June 27 to July 5.
During a high-level meeting at the Presidential Secretariat today (June 12), Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake directed relevant government departments to extend maximum cooperation to ensure the smooth execution of the event, which is expected to draw around 15,000 international visitors, primarily from India and other countries.
The convention will be centred around the Bambalapitiya Bora Mosque and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), and will feature the presence of the community’s revered spiritual leader, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Sahib.
Officials discussed comprehensive logistical and infrastructure arrangements, including airport reception facilities, transportation, and security coordination, to accommodate the influx of global attendees. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring an efficient and hospitable experience for visiting members of the Dawoodi Bohra community.
The meeting was attended by religious leaders of the Bora community and key government officials, including Foreign Ministry Secretary Aruni Ranaraja and Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage.
The event is being seen as a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s religious and cultural diplomacy, showcasing its commitment to interfaith harmony and international cooperation.
