(COLOMBO) – Foreigner visitors arriving in Sri Lanka will be eligible to receive driving license on arrival at the entry port with no questions asked, according to a senior Government Minister.
The move will come into effect from the start of April this year, State Minister for Transport Lasantha Alagiyawanna said.
In addition to that he said that plans had already been finalized to provide driving licences to local motorists within a day in order to cut down on the back log caused by bureaucratic delay that are often associated with wide spread corruption.
‘This issue will be addressed by October this year and the issuance of temporary licenses will be totally scrapped”, Alagiyawanna said.
