John Ternus is set to take charge of Apple as the world’s tech giant prepares for one of the biggest leadership changes in its history.
A new chapter is beginning for Apple, as Tim Cook, the 65 year old leader who guided the company for 15 years, is preparing to step down as Chief Executive Officer on September 1st.
His successor will be 50 year old John Ternus, who has served as the head of Apple’s Hardware Engineering division since 2021. However, Cook will not be leaving Apple entirely. He will move into a new role as Executive Chairman of the company.
Ternus is no stranger to Apple’s inner machinery. He has worked quietly within the company’s product development division for the past 25 years and is regarded as one of the key minds behind several modern Apple devices, including the hugely popular ‘Apple Air’.
Until now, Ternus has largely remained behind the scenes. But his new role places him at the centre of one of the most powerful companies in the world, with the responsibility of shaping Apple’s future during a critical period for global technology.

With this leadership transition, further internal changes are also taking place. Tim Cook’s deputy, Tom Marriab, will succeed John Ternus as head of the Hardware Engineering division.
Johnny Shrugi has also been appointed as Apple’s new Chief Hardware Officer.
However, questions remain over whether Ternus can carry the weight of the $4 trillion empire that Tim Cook built across 15 years of disciplined leadership, product expansion, and global market dominance.
