Moeen Ali delivered a decisive all-round performance as the Kandy Royals defeated the Galle Gallants by 11 runs in Match 11 of the 2026 Lanka Premier League.
Kandy recovered from 79 for five to reach 165 for six, with Moeen scoring 41 from 29 balls. He shared a crucial 58-run partnership with captain Angelo Mathews, who remained unbeaten on 28. Dale Phillips also contributed 34.
Galle’s chase began poorly as Nuwan Thushara struck twice in the second over. The Gallants slipped to 54 for five before Chamika Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka revived their hopes with a 73-run partnership.
Karunaratne scored 52 from 35 balls, while Shanaka finished unbeaten on 57 from 38. However, Galle managed only six runs from the final over and closed on 154 for eight.
Thushara claimed three wickets, while Moeen took one for 11 and earned the Player of the Match award.
