Captain Kamindu Mendis smashed an unbeaten 88 from only 39 balls as Colombo Kaps defeated Dambulla Sixers by 21 runs in LPL Match 12 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
Batting first after Dambulla elected to bowl, Colombo posted 197 for five from their 20 overs. Rubin Hermann gave the innings an attacking start with 39 from 24 deliveries, while Kamindu took control during the closing stages.
Colombo were 133 for five after 15.5 overs before Kamindu and James Neesham added an unbeaten 64 from the final 25 balls. Kamindu struck nine fours and four sixes, finishing with a strike rate of 225.64.
Dambulla struggled early in the chase and slipped to 31 for three. Pavan Rathnayake revived the innings with 50 from 30 balls, while Marques Ackerman scored 40. Gulbadin Naib also struck 28 from 13 deliveries.
However, regular wickets prevented Dambulla from maintaining the required scoring rate. The Sixers finished on 176 for eight.
Shahnawaz Dahani claimed two wickets for 20 runs, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman took two for 33.
Kamindu received the Player of the Match award for his match-winning innings.
