Parliamentary sources said the committee has now completed most of its investigative work.
Officials will first circulate the draft report among the Members of Parliament serving on the committee.
The committee will then consider their recommendations and observations before preparing the final version.
Under the resolution adopted when Parliament established the committee, it must submit its report within three months of its first meeting.
Meanwhile, opposition members had requested that the committee summon members of the Presidential Commission that previously investigated the container releases.
However, the committee chairman decided against recalling them.
He reportedly concluded that another appearance was unnecessary because the Presidential Commission had already completed its work and submitted a final report.
Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara, an attorney-at-law, chairs the Parliamentary Special Committee.
The final report is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the release of the 323 containers and present the committee’s findings to Parliament.
Its submission will mark the conclusion of the Colombo Port containers investigation, although any further action will depend on the report’s findings and recommendations.
