The Yevan David Monza sprint produced a superb comeback as the Sri Lankan AIX Racing driver charged from 17th on the grid to finish fourth.
David expressed his delight after the race and said he hopes to deliver an even stronger performance in Sunday’s main event.
He steadily moved through the field as the race developed.
On the final lap, David overtook Alessandro Giusti to secure fourth place and complete an impressive recovery drive.
The result came after a qualifying session in which David said he had been unable to demonstrate the pace he expected.
However, he remained confident that he had enough speed to produce a strong race performance.
Yevan David Monza Sprint Charge Comes Alive
“Honestly, it was a great experience. I knew we had good speed and ability. I was a bit cautious in the first lap,” David said.
“Then I managed to gain a few positions, and from there I stayed in the race successfully.”
He described the final-lap move for fourth as particularly satisfying.
“It’s a great feeling to secure 4th place through overtaking on the final lap. If there had been a few more laps, there might have even been a chance to reach the podium. That’s the goal for tomorrow’s race as well,” he said.
David also spoke warmly about the Monza circuit.
He said Monza feels like home because he has lived there for some time and has family in the area.
That connection made the result even more special for the Sri Lankan driver.
Calm Strategy Helps David Climb the Order
Explaining his race strategy, David said he approached the event with patience because of the length of the race.
He focused on keeping his mind calm and carefully managing his speed through the exits of corners.
That approach helped him stay competitive while gradually moving forward.
David also said the close racing throughout the event was one of the aspects he enjoyed most.
“I really appreciate the intense competition and battle from the start to the end of the race. That’s the part of racing I love the most,” he added.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s main race, David said he is not a driver who sets a fixed finishing position as a target.
Instead, his aim is to produce an even better performance than the Yevan David Monza sprint result.
After climbing 13 places and taking fourth with a last-lap overtake, the AIX Racing driver now heads into the main race with confidence and momentum.
