In a significant move ahead of the upcoming general elections, all political parties that supported Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe in the last presidential election have agreed to contest under the New Democratic Front banner, represented by the Gas Cylinder symbol. This decision was formalized during a meeting held at the Election Operations Office in Colombo on October 2.
During the last presidential election, 34 parties and alliances signed the “Puluwan Sri Lanka” convention in support of Wickramasinghe. The gathering of former Members of Parliament was crucial in reaching a consensus on the alliance and marking the date for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
This coalition aims to consolidate support and strengthen their political standing as they prepare for the elections, demonstrating a united front among the parties that have previously backed Wickramasinghe.
