The Sri Lanka Navy is marking its 74th anniversary today, celebrating decades of service and dedication to the nation. In line with the occasion, a total of 2,138 senior and junior sailors have been promoted to higher ranks, following the recommendation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.
The promotions span across various ranks, including:
- 158 sailors promoted to the rank of Ordinary Seaman
- 279 sailors promoted to the rank of Master Seaman
- 406 sailors promoted to the rank of Captain
- 391 sailors promoted to the rank of Petty Officer
- 539 sailors promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer
- 354 sailors promoted to the rank of Group Chief Petty Officer
- 11 sailors promoted to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer
