A fresh controversy has erupted as a complaint has been filed against Bribery Commission Director General Ranga Dissanayake, alleging irregularities in admitting his son to Royal College, Colombo.
A serious complaint has been lodged with the Bribery Commission against its own Director General, Mr. Ranga Dissanayake. The complaint, filed by Ravindra Nissanka of Dematagoda, accuses him of using political influence to admit his son to Royal College, Colombo, in violation of the prescribed admission circulars during his tenure as Homagama Magistrate.
According to the complaint, Mr. Dissanayake allegedly secured his son’s entry into Royal College through the intervention of then Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena while he was serving in Homagama and preparing for a transfer to Puttalam. It is also alleged that former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara carried out this task. The complaint has attached several YouTube videos and Facebook posts as supporting references to these claims.
The complainant has requested the Bribery Commission to launch a formal investigation into the child’s admission process and to examine the alleged close ties between Mr. Dissanayake and former Minister Nanayakkara.
The Bribery Commission has acknowledged receipt of the complaint and informed the complainant that it will be considered. However, the Commission clarified that accepting the complaint does not mean an investigation will automatically be conducted. A final decision will be communicated once the Commission evaluates the matter.
This development has sparked wide public discussion as it directly involves the head of the Bribery Commission, the very institution tasked with ensuring accountability and integrity in Sri Lanka. Keywords such as Bribery Commission complaint, Ranga Dissanayake Royal College admission, and political influence in school admissions are trending in political and legal circles.
