(COLOMBO) – The elder brother of a suspect drug lord currently hiding overseas was nabbed at the Colombo airport while attempting to flee after allegedly murdering a young woman at an expressway in southern Sri Lanka, police said on Wednesday.
The suspect is the brother Ellawala Liyanage Dharmasiri Perera alias ‘Dharmasiri’ who is a person of interest in a police investigation into drug trafficking and money laundering, police said.
According to police the suspect is alleged to have lured the victim into his car and latter fatally slit her throat in what appears to be over a jilted love affair.
The victim, was a 41-year-old employee of the Civil Aviation Authority, investigators have found out.
She was allegedly murdered near the Kahathuduwa interchange of the Southern Expressway.
