Police investigating a burglary complaint linked to Ramith Rambukwella say belongings were moved on instructions from his father-in-law.
COLOMBO – A formal police investigation has been launched following a complaint regarding a burglary at a residence linked to former Sri Lankan cricketer Ramith Rambukwella, the son of former Cabinet Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
According to the complaint filed at the Narahenpita Police Station, a substantial amount of foreign and local currency, along with various household appliances and valuable assets, has been reported missing.
Police stated that the initial complaint details the theft of US$4,275, Rs. 1.4 million, and several household electronic goods from an apartment located within a housing complex in Narahenpita, Colombo.
The incident is believed to have taken place between August 8 and September 30.
However, subsequent preliminary police inquiries have introduced a complex twist to the case. Investigators revealed that the apartment in question legally belongs to Ramith Rambukwella’s father-in-law.
Further findings indicate that, acting on instructions from the father-in-law, belongings and assets belonging to Ramith Rambukwella were relocated to a storage facility in the Nugegoda area.
Ramith Rambukwella’s father-in-law, who currently resides abroad, has also submitted an official complaint regarding the matter via email.
Narahenpita Police are continuing their investigations and are taking steps to present the facts and evidence gathered so far before the courts as legal proceedings move forward.
