In a dramatic revelation in Parliament today, MP Ramanathan Arjuna alleged that container number 323, which was controversially released without undergoing customs inspection, contained weapons that once belonged to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The MP claimed that he received this sensitive information directly from sources within the Tamil diaspora.
“I have learned that the contents of that container included weapons that were used by Prabhakaran himself,” Arjuna declared during his speech. “I’m saying this at great personal risk. I have no security. I could be shot for revealing this.”
The MP elaborated that these weapons had reportedly been left behind in Thailand before 2009 and that the late LTTE leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran, had made attempts to transport them to Sri Lanka. According to Arjuna, members of the Tamil diaspora informed him that the weapons were eventually brought into the country by LTTE operatives, with individuals like Kumaran and the infamous Pathmanathan involved in the operation.
In a further political twist, Arjuna also alleged that before ascending to the presidency, Anura Kumara Dissanayake had visited Germany and held discussions with elements of the Tamil diaspora. He claimed that during this trip, Dissanayake had made certain promises, agreeing to “carry out actions abroad that could not be implemented within the country.”
The MP’s explosive remarks, linking a released container to LTTE weapons and implicating high-level political dealings with diaspora groups, are likely to stir major controversy and raise concerns over national security, customs oversight, and the new government’s foreign engagements.
