
UNP Councillor Sandamali Uluwitage of Colombo North has been hospitalised following an alleged attack by National People’s Power supporters after a tense municipal council meeting.
A Colombo Municipal Councillor has been rushed to the hospital following a shocking attack that has sparked political tension in the capital.
The victim, Ms. Sandamali Uluwitage, a prominent UNP councillor representing the Colombo North division, was reportedly assaulted by a group she claims to be supporters of the National People’s Power (NPP).
According to Ms. Uluwitage, the incident occurred shortly after a heated Colombo Municipal Council meeting. She alleges that a group of individuals, whom she identified as NPP supporters, visited her place of business and carried out the attack.
She has since been admitted to hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries has not yet been publicly disclosed, but officials confirm that she is under medical supervision.
