India donates 134 cabs worth Rs.300 million to Sri Lanka Police under the Indo-Sri Lanka Friendship Programme.
India donated 134 cabs to Sri Lanka Police under the Indo-Sri Lanka Friendship Programme at the Presidential Secretariat today.
The vehicles were officially handed over to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning (25).
The Government of India has spent Rs.300 million on the donation.
The cabs are scheduled to be distributed among police stations in the Northern Province.
Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha said similar assistance will continue to be extended to Sri Lanka in the future.
In appreciation of the donation, IGP Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya presented a memento to High Commissioner Santosh Jha.
Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala was also present at the event.
Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Sunil Watagala, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, General Manager of DIMO Rajiv Pandithage, officials of the Indian High Commission, and senior officers of the Sri Lanka Police also attended.
