NPP MP Sunil Biyanwila says the government will not hand power back to defeated political groups and vows to build the country.
NPP MP Sunil Biyanwila has declared that the government did not gain power to hand it back to defeated political groups, but to build the country for ordinary people who have long been oppressed.
Addressing a recent public gathering, the National People’s Power MP said only his government has the ability to rebuild Sri Lanka and create a better future for the common people.
“Only we can build this country. We did not take this power to give it back. We will only hand over this power to people of our class who love this country after us,” Biyanwila said.
He pointed out that Parliament and Municipal Councils were once controlled by an elite political system where power passed from father to son. However, he said that today, the children of ordinary poor parents are representing those same institutions.
The MP said opposition claims that the government will collapse within two months or six months are nothing more than false slogans used to keep their supporters together.
According to Biyanwila, people at the grassroots level have already understood that this government cannot be overturned easily.
He further stated that NPP MPs have not entered Parliament for personal privileges, luxury, or individual desires.
Biyanwila said the NPP includes distinguished state officials, doctors, lawyers, and professors, some of whom had voluntarily given up high-paying jobs to serve the country.
Their only objective, he said, is to create the beautiful country that the people have hoped for.
The MP emphasized that the government is ready to involve capable, non-corrupt, and non-fraudulent individuals from any political party in the task of rebuilding the economy.
However, he said the government will not allow the “culture of defection,” where MPs are recruited from other parties into its own ranks.
He added that a new law is expected to be introduced in the future to prevent such political crossovers.
Sunil Biyanwila also stated that his government remains fully committed to strengthening all sectors, including sports and the arts, with the aim of making Sri Lanka one of the best countries in the world.
