  1. The leadership of Asia Rugby under Qais Al-Dhalai has raised serious concerns regarding governance, transparency, accountability, and democratic representation within the game in Asia.

As someone who was subjected to disciplinary proceedings resulting in a two-year suspension, I continue to question the fairness and independence of the process. Despite repeated requests by myself and my legal representatives, key documents and evidence relating to the charges were not made available, raising fundamental concerns about due process and natural justice.

Equally concerning is the perception that power within Asia Rugby has become increasingly centralized, with voting structures and decision-making mechanisms favouring the continuation of the existing leadership rather than promoting genuine democratic governance.

The fact that these concerns have not been adequately addressed by the relevant authorities has only deepened the frustration felt by many stakeholders who believe rugby administration in Asia should be guided by transparency, fairness, and accountability.

No individual should be above scrutiny, and no sporting body should operate without proper checks and balances. For the future credibility of Asia Rugby, these matters deserve independent review and open discussion.

Good governance is not a slogan—it is a responsibility.
